FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
What is a CLAS car cushion?
A CLAS car cushion, also called a carpillow, is an inflatable car cushion that is placed under the car during long-term storage. It relieves the tires, undercarriage and suspension, allowing the car to stand still for longer periods of time without unnecessary strain.
The car cushion is particularly relevant for vintage cars, classic cars, sports cars and other cars that are stationary for longer periods of time.
What is the purpose of the car cushion?
The purpose is to relieve the car while it is stationary. When the car is parked for a long time, the tires can get flat spots or edges, and the suspension can be under constant load. With a CLAS car cushion, the car is gently lifted, reducing the pressure on the tires and undercarriage.
How is the car cushion used?
The car cushion is placed under the car on the included plastic base and inflated with a regular compressor or tire pump.
It should typically be inflated so that the tires still touch the ground, but where most of the pressure is taken off the tires and chassis. This way, the car stands stable while being relieved of pressure.
Do the wheels need to be lifted completely off the floor?
No, this is not usually necessary. It is typically recommended that the tires still have light contact with the ground, but that the pressure is taken off the tires and chassis. This provides good and stable relief.
How long can the car be left on the car pad?
The car can be stored on the car cushion for months or years as long as it is used correctly. The car cushion is specifically designed for long-term storage of cars that are not used daily.
Can the car cushion puncture?
The car cushion is made of strong and durable material, but as with all inflatable products, it must be used correctly. It should be placed on the included mat and not dragged over sharp surfaces.
In normal use, the risk of puncture is very low, but if you are unlucky enough to puncture the cushion with, for example, a knife or screwdriver, the nylon mesh can be unzipped and the cushion can be patched with ordinary patching equipment and used again.
What is the car cushion made of?
CLAS car cushions are made of natural rubber and nylon mesh. The materials are chosen to provide strength, flexibility and durability.
Where is the car cushion manufactured?
CLAS car cushions are produced in the EU. This provides a high and uniform production quality and supports responsible production closer to the Danish market.
Is there a warranty on the car cushion?
Yes, there is a warranty according to applicable regulations. The warranty covers defects and faults in the product, but not damage resulting from improper use, overpumping, heat from exhaust or contact with sharp objects.
How much can the car cushion be inflated?
The car cushion may be inflated to a maximum of 0.2 bar. It should only be inflated to the desired height where the car is properly relieved.
Can I use a regular compressor?
Yes, the car cushion can be inflated with a regular compressor or tire pump. The included valve extension is screwed onto the valve before inflating the car cushion.
How do you deflate the car cushion?
When the car cushion needs to be deflated, unscrew the valve extension. The car cushion should only be pulled out when it is completely deflated and lying completely flat.
If you want to go faster, the air can be sucked out with a regular vacuum cleaner by placing the nozzle over the valve.
Can the car cushion be used under a hot car?
No. The car pad should not be placed under a hot car, as it consists of rubber and nylon mesh, which can be damaged or melt upon contact with hot parts such as the exhaust.
Always wait until the engine and exhaust have cooled sufficiently.
Is it okay to start the car while the car cushion is underneath?
No. The car must not be started while the car cushion is under the car. High heat from, for example, the exhaust can damage the car cushion.
Which cars does the car cushion fit?
The car cushion is particularly suitable for vintage cars, classics, sports cars and other cars that are stationary for long periods. It is relevant for car owners who want to take extra care of their car's tires, chassis and suspension.
Why choose a car cushion rather than just leaving the car standing?
When a car is parked for a long time, the entire weight of the car rests on the tires and undercarriage in the same place. Over time, this can cause flat spots on the tires and strain the suspension. A car cushion helps distribute and reduce the load, so the car is more gentle during storage.
